So, I've decided to do a 30 day challenge. It is what it sounds like, challenge yourself to do something everyday for the next 30 days.
For me, that's hard. I'm not generally that into routine. At work, sure. At home, no!
But I 've totally lost my creative muse of the long winter. Last weekend, I spun yarn for the first time this year; I didn't completely forget how to spin, but my hand control was definitely spotty. So, the only way to get my hand control back to where it was is to spin consistently. Hence, the challenge.
To be specific, I'm challenging myself to spin something everyday. And prove it by posting it to this blog. It can be as little as two minutes of spinning; but it has to be something. And as the saying goes "pictures or it didn't happen". And more incentive to keep me honest, my readers get to impose some sort of penalty if I miss a day.
For day 1: I present to you 7 yards of 2-ply, bulky, overspun, ugliness. And that's not me criticizing my spinning. Trust me, it has too much twist in it. If I stay on challenge, I should again, be able to produce a lofty, balance, bulky yarn in 7-10 days. As for the ugly comment, come on....really its ugly. These colors do not play well together as a 2-ply bulky. Tomorrow, I will spin it thinner and see if more blending makes for less ugly. I don't think it will, but there is only one way to find out for sure. This, Gentle Readers is called 'sampling'. New spinners tend to fear that sampling is a waste of fiber, but really its better to know that I don't like this as a 2-ply bulky before spinning all 7 ozs of it, yes?
I've spent more time, writing this post than I spent spinning that sample. See you tomorrow!
